On September 10th, 2025, the Executive Chairman of Iru-Victoria Island Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Aminat Oluwakemi Alabi (AOA), convened a landmark Stakeholders' Engagement Meeting at the Oluremi Tinubu Hall. The forum brought together traditional rulers, community associations, political leaders, legislators, residents, and youth representatives to jointly shape the council's developmental roadmap, anchored on her newly launched ACHIEVES Agenda.
In her address, Hon. Alabi emphasized the essence of participatory governance, stating This gathering reflects our administration's commitment to inclusive governance, as government cannot succeed in isolation. Development is a continuous process that requires collective effort‚ She encouraged attendees to share their insights and assured them that their contributions would be integrated into the ACHIEVES Programs, the administration's strategic blueprint.
At the center of the session was the official unveiling of the ACHIEVES Framework, an eight-pillar agenda comprising:Agriculture CommunityHealth Infrastructure Education Vital Environment Empowerment Security Hon. Alabi described the framework as a strategic guide for measurable and impactful governance, underpinned by transparency, accountability, and citizen-focused development.
In her opening remarks, Hon. Aminat Oluwakemi Alabi (AOA) reaffirmed her administration's commitment to participatory governance, transparency, and community development guided by the A.C.H.I.E.V.E.S. Blueprint.
She noted that, Our administration remains resolute in promoting inclusive governance and accountability. Despite the achievements within our first 100 days in office, we are determined to accelerate progress and move into top gear for greater impact.
The forum brought together residents, ward representatives, captains of industry, CDC/CDA members, community leaders, and other critical stakeholders across the LCDA. The interactive session provided an avenue for participants to present their community needs and contributions toward the 2026 fiscal planning process.
Discussions at the forum focused on key developmental priorities such as infrastructure improvement, enhanced healthcare services, rehabilitation of roads, provision of boreholes, job creation, youth empowerment, and skills acquisition all aimed at improving the quality of life for residents.
AOA also appealed to residents and business operators to ensure prompt payment of their levies and local government revenues to strengthen service delivery across all sectors.
In his goodwill message, Apex Leader, Pharm. Abayomi Daramola, commended the administration's proactive approach to inclusive planning, assuring that priority consideration will be given to the various requests and submissions from stakeholders. He further emphasized the need for all cooperate organizations in Victoria island to fulfill their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) obligation to the LCDA and called on security agencies to intensify efforts in addressing the menace of drug abuse within the community.
The event also featured goodwill messages and endorsements from leaders, residents, and stakeholders. Hon. Pharm. Muyideen Abayomi Daramola, Vice Chairman, APC Lagos Central Senatorial District, and Apex Leader of Iru-VI LCDA, commended the ACHIEVES framework as a holistic blueprint where every letter has a plan. He further urged companies to fulfill their statutory 5% CSR contributions to foster local development.
Hon. Princess Rasheedat Abiodun Adu, immediate past Chairman of Iru-VI LCDA, called on residents to collaborate with the new administration to sustain past achievements. Mr. Bankole Olorunfemi, Treasurer of the Community Development Committee, pledged community support while advocating for stronger youth engagement and wider information outreach.
Mr. Abdullateef Muse, Secretary of Victoria Island Residents Association, lauded ongoing infrastructure works and encouraged greater synergy with the Lagos State Government for broader impact.
