The Executive Chairman of Iru-Victoria Island LCDA, Hon. Aminat Oluwakemi Alabi (AOA), fully mobilised CDAs, CDC, and other stakeholders in her community to attend the National Building Safety and Structural Integrity Initiative (NBSSII) workshop, organised by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) yesterday.
The workshop educated participants - particularly artisans (builders, carpenters, welders), developers, and property owners - on the importance of using quality materials during construction and securing all necessary approvals before commencing any building project. It further emphasised strict compliance with structural safety standards to prevent building collapse and avoid demolition of substandard structures.
Keynote presentations were delivered by the representative of Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, who spoke on "National Building Safety and Structural Integrity", and by Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Executive Governor of Lagos State, who highlighted "The Lagos Experience in Conducting Building Safety, Structural Integrity and Emergency Response", commending the state’s progress in recent years.
Hon. Aminat Oluwakemi Alabi applauded the Lagos State Government for its proactive measures in building safety and regulatory enforcement.
