The Executive Chairman of Iru-Victoria Island LCDA, Hon. Aminat Oluwakemi Alabi, led the monthly environmental sanitation enforcement and awareness exercise across the LCDA, reaffirming her administration's commitment to maintaining a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment.
To ensure wider coverage and effective monitoring, the enforcement team was divided into three groups:
Team A covered Lekki Phase 1, including areas behind Maroko Police Station, the vicinity of AP Filling Station, and Oniru Estate.
Team B covered Sanusi Fafunwa Street, Akin Adesola Street, and Adeola Odeku Street.
Team C covered Ahmadu Bello Way, Bonny Camp, and Adetokunbo Ademola Street.
During the exercise, Hon. Alabi ensured strict enforcement of sanitation regulations. Residents and business owners found violating environmental sanitation guidelines were encouraged to actively participate in the exercise by sweeping, clearing drains, and cutting overgrown grasses.
This measure was aimed at promoting civic responsibility and serving as a deterrent to future violations.
The Executive Chairman also carried out an extensive awareness campaign within Oniru Estate, urging residents to regularly maintain their surroundings and actively participate in environmental sanitation exercises. Premises that failed to comply with sanitation regulations were appropriately sealed in accordance with environmental laws.
Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Alabi emphasized the importance of environmental cleanliness and urged residents, traders, and stakeholders to take sanitation activities seriously, particularly during government-designated sanitation periods, as a means of promoting healthy living and preventing environmental hazards.
As part of the day's activities, Hon. Alabi paid a courtesy visit to the palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba AbdulwasiuOmogbolahan Lawal Abisogun II, CON, the Oniru of Iruland, where she was warmly received. Special prayers were offered for the Chairman by the Balogun of Iru Kingdom and Apex Leader, Pharm. Abayomi Daramola Arobadade, alongside members of the White Cap Chiefs, who expressed appreciation for the visit.

Taofeek Abiola; Supervisor for Environment, Mr. Adetimi Durojaiye and other supervisory Councillors, Head of Department, Environment, Mr. Mayowa Aminu; Head of Security, Hon. Stanley Iyere; Head of Information, Mrs. Rotimi; CDC Chairman Comrade Andrew Amanda, and other government officials.
