Vocational Entrepreneurship and Enhancement Programme

The Iru-Victoria Island Local Council Development Area (LCDA) today commenced Day 1 of its 15-day Vocational Entrepreneurship and Enhancement Training Programme, in partnership with VCare for Development Foundation (VCDF). The programme is being held at the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Hall within the LCDA Secretariat. The Executive Chairman, Hon. Aminat Oluwakemi Alabi, was ably represented at the event by the Supervisor for Youth and Sports, Hon. Qudus Balogun.

In his remarks, he underscored the importance of skill acquisition as a pathway to sustainable livelihoods and urged participants to remain focused and committed in order to become successful entrepreneurs. VCare for Development Foundation (VCDF), a non-profit organization, collaborates with government institutions to drive sustainable, long-term development initiatives aimed at empowering communities. The programme commenced with a welcome address by the National Programme Manager, Mr. Madhu.

This was followed by an interactive session facilitated by the VCDF team, led by the Partnership Manager, Mr. Muyiwa Bolarinwa. Participants undertook a pre-assessment exercise using a barcode scanning system to evaluate their existing knowledge and competencies in vocational studies. Further sessions included a life skills lecture delivered by Dr. James, covering various vocational areas such as tie and dye(ADIRE), tailoring, Ankara crafts, photography, and bead-making.

The day also featured a masterclass led by Mr. Bolarinwa and his team, focusing on the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and effective time management. The session was highly interactive, with participants actively engaging through questions and discussions. The training programme is expected to equip participants with practical skills and entrepreneurial knowledge necessary for self-reliance and economic empowerment.
