Lagos State is taking a major step towards ensuring every child has a secure digital identity!
The Executive Chairman of Iru-Victoria Island LCDA, Hon. Aminat Oluwakemi Alabi, recently flagged off the E-Birth Electronic Birth Registration Initiative, aiming to document every child from 0-12 months with a National Identity Number (NIN).
This initiative aligns with the Lagos State Government's vision to leverage technology for better governance and planning.
The event, held at Iru-Victoria Island Council Secretariat Primary Health Care, was also attended by MOH Mrs. Simiat Oladipo.
This digital birth registration system is expected to improve data accuracy, planning efficiency, and promote equitable growth across communities.
This initiative is a significant milestone, especially considering Nigeria's previously low birth registration rates. The digitalized process simplifies registration, eliminates double registration, and provides accurate records and statistics for government planning and policy-making.
